Attendance Requirement for all Courses:

Late arrival and early departure from a class are recorded as absence from a class for the subject concerned. All candidates will be required to put in a minimum of 70 % attendance in each subject and 75% in aggregate during the academic session. Students failing to secure this shall be detained from appearing in the Annual Examination to be conducted by the National Council. The Principal is empowered to condone up to 10% of absence on medical grounds. A medical certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner should accompany such request. In case off illness, absence of the student is permissible only after prior intimation with written explanation to the Principal. A doctor’s certificate should be submitted within a week.

Teaching Medium:

The medium of instruction or teaching in the Institute is English.

Examination:

The Institute is running a course approved by AICTE-DEC, Govt. of India from The Global Open University, Dimapur, Nagaland, for the contents of the syllabi and conduct of examinations and rules of the University shall be applicable. The University examinations for courses (B.Sc. in HM, Diploma in HM, Masters in HM at the end of the academic session in June and December.

Note: It will be the responsibility of the student to arrange his/her Industrial training. However, The Placement Cell assists them in this.

Assessment:

Students are required to appear in the in-house mid-term examinations that are conducted in November/December. The marks of this examination count towards the total marks stated in the final mark sheet issued by the University. (30% of the marks obtained in this examination count towards the total marks stated in the final mark sheet issued by the University)

Industrial Training:

The students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management are required to undergo and complete 24 weeks of Industrial Training in the hotel industry during the Second Year of the programme. Students of the Diploma in Hotel Management are required to undergo and complete a 6 months- period of Industrial Training in the hotel industry

Campus Recruitment:

The Institute has a Placement Cell that helps place students in jobs in hotels and arranges campus interviews for this purpose. Leading hospitality establishments visit the Institute for picking up suitable prospective employees for their esteemed organisations.
